The lawyer for nurse Gisela Dahiana Madrid, accused of the alleged "intentional homicide" of Diego Armando Maradona, reaffirmed that the death scene was tampered with, which could lead to the suspension of the trial in which Leopoldo Luque and Agustina Cosachov are facing charges. Rodolfo Baqué, in statements to the Argentine News Agency, reiterated the complaint made by Diego Maradona Junior's advisor, last name Ramírez, who claimed that Maradona died in the early morning and was covered with a sheet to simulate that he was sleeping.
Baqué announced that during the trial he would present "explosive" audio recordings of conversations between Maradona, Luque, and Cosachov days before the former footballer's death, which occurred on November 25, 2020, in a private neighborhood in Tigre. The main trial, scheduled to begin against Luque, Cosachov, psychologist Carlos Díaz, and four other professionals on March 11, could be postponed due to the prosecutors' delay in providing evidence to the parties.
On the other hand, the Court of Cassation rejected a motion filed by the prosecutors and ordered that the jury trial against Madrid be conducted immediately. A hearing will take place on February 25 in the Criminal Oral Tribunal (TOC) number seven of San Isidro to discuss the theory of the crime, evidentiary agreements, and the list of witnesses who will testify during the trial.
Among the witnesses expected to testify in the case are Dalma and Gianinna Maradona, Verónica Ojeda, Rocío Oliva, lawyer Matías Morla, and Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia, head of the Argentine Football Association (AFA). Testimony is also expected from Ana Estela and Rita Mabel Maradona, Gabriel Pellegrino, and journalists Nelson Castro and Marcela Tauro.
